Feed the Birds!
With the Winter temperatures we are currently experiencing, please don't forget to feed the birds as the weather is so cold.
Nuts, seeds, fruit such as apples and pears, dried fruit (preferably re-hydrated), bread, cake, suet treats and meal worms are all gobbled up by the birds in my garden.
Don't forget some water too, placed in a tray or bird bath. Check it often to make sure it is not frozen. Water is very scarce in these conditions.
Advice on feeding is available from the RSPB.

More Snow Reminds Us It's Still Winter
With a snow shower on Friday more snow fell last night commencing with hail at 12AM which slowly changed to heavy snow.

There was a further brief flurry at 8AM.
I cleared a patch in the back garden to feed the birds and did the RSPB "BiG GARDEN BiRDWATCH 2010" and recorded the folowing birds:
Blackbird 24; Chaffinch 6, Collard Dove 2; House Sparrow 1; Magpie 1; Starling 8; Woodpigeon 14; Red Wing 1; Fieldfare 1; Thrush 1; Wagtail 1.
